Time To Make A Run Down The Stretch
Going into the hostile environment in Kansas City last Sunday and beating a Chiefs team that played hard and that is better than their record was big for us. We're searching for that consistency. I've been talking about it all season. I would like to say it is coming, but I don't know there is a way to say that until we actually go out and do it on the field.
We felt like we had a good performance in Kansas City. I feel pretty good going into the backstretch of our season, but I'm also aware of what is happening in our division. Carolina is 8-2, Tampa Bay is 7-3 and Atlanta is 6-4. We have some hurdles to get over, but we have to take things week by week.
We have Green Bay coming to town on Monday night. We have a lot of confidence in our team, and now it is time to get on a roll. We don't have a whole lot of time left to get hot. Throughout this season we have shown bits and pieces of how good we are, or how good we can be.
I think, defensively, we are making the kind of strides I know we have to make. We gave up one long pass play against Kansas City and then held them when we had to, which was encouraging.
For me, I feel like I am getting better every week. The coaches feel that way. I like New Orleans very much. I like the team, the fans, the city. We're building something here. We just need all the pieces to come together.
Monday night is a special thing for me. I know everybody in the league is watching. It's like Thursday night in college. My peers are watching and my family is watching and it is a big night.
The Packers are a very explosive team, an outstanding offense. We have to be ready for everything -- the first priority is stopping the run, as it is every game -- and we have to pressure the quarterback.
We need this one. It's big. I thank you all for your support. I know you will be there with us.
