4-0 Heading into Our Bye Week

It is a great feeling to be undefeated at 4-0 heading into our bye week, especially after such a strong performance against my former team- the New York Jets. Our defense looked real strong throughout the game and really pressured the Jets’ offense to make some wrong decisions. It was great to force a few turnovers and score two defensive touchdowns because that shows how much of a force our defense has become. We were able to slow down the Jets’ offense and create problems for their passing game. We didn’t really use any special strategies on defense to stop Mark Sanchez and the Jets’ offense, but we used aggressive play-calling to put pressure on them to make quick decisions. I am happy because it was a great team effort and a nice way to go into our bye week to get some much needed rest.

This was my first victory against my former team, so I am definitely excited to have played so well against my former teammates. I was very pleased with our balance throughout the game on both sides of the ball. It is a good sign that Drew Brees does not need to throw for 3-4 TDs in order for us to win the game. Our running game was solid again this week, with Pierre Thomas carrying much of the load. We have a variety of weapons on offense, which allows us to account for some of our players having “off-days” for some games. This balanced attack will definitely help us be a strong force all year long.

We are really looking forward to our bye week because it will give us a great opportunity to catch up on some rest and work on some fundamentals. The bye week gives us a chance to rest mentally and physically. Playing such close games really drains you mentally and physically, so it is nice to have a bye week coming after such an emotionally-charged game. There is always room to improve, so we will work on some fundamentals and game-planning this week as we look ahead to our matchup against the New York Giants after the bye week. The Giants have a lot of talent on offense with Eli Manning, Brandon Jacobs, and their corps of young receivers. We will work hard to improve our defensive unit in order to control their weapons on offense. I am really looking forward to that game because it will give us a chance to matchup against one of the NFL’s best teams and show how much our defense has improved.

I am looking forward to the rest and relaxation of the bye week because I can sit back and be a fan. I will definitely cheer for my Miami Hurricanes this weekend. I am very happy with their performance on a national spotlight this past weekend. It feels great to be 4-0, but we know there is always room to improve because we still have many tough games this year, starting with the Giants next week.
