6-0 Heading into Monday Night Football
This victory over the Miami Dolphins was, in my view, our best win of the year. We came from behind and played tough in the second half, which just shows that it’s not how you start the game, but how you finish it. We faced adversity and grinded out the win in our first major close call of the year, which will help us greatly in the long run. I am very pleased that we are still undefeated at 6-0, especially having faced two very strong opponents in the past two weeks in the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins.
We played a very strong second half versus a tough Dolphins offense and came from behind to secure our win. We did not play well throughout the first quarter and the early part of the second quarter. The momentum shifted in our favor in the middle of the second quarter going into halftime with the touchdown to end the half. The touchdown provided a big boost of energy and confidence going into halftime, which helped us to stay positive in the second half. We did not really change much during halftime in regards to our defensive game-planning or strategies to stop the Wildcat formation. Ricky Williams hurt us throughout the game, but we were able to put together a better performance on both sides of the ball and limit their big plays. I am confident that we will learn from this game and become stronger as a team heading into the Monday Night Football game versus the Atlanta Falcons.
We are not happy with the fact that we allowed 34 points to the Dolphins, but we did a good job of creating opportunities to score points and get ourselves back in the game. In no way is it a grave problem, but we will make sure we prepare very well this week to limit the Falcons on offense. I love playing on Monday Night Football because it gives us a chance to showcase our talented team in front of millions of people. I do not prepare any differently for a Monday night game, but I make sure I get extra work in over the weekend so I stay prepared mentally and physically to come out strong. I enjoy the extra day to prepare for the game because I am willing to take advantage of the extra time and make the most of it.
The Atlanta Falcons have a very balanced offensive attack with QB Matt Ryan, RB Michael Turner, WR Roddy White, and TE Tony Gonzalez. We cannot plan to stop the both the passing game and running game, but we will try to limit big plays and contain their explosive weapons. Depending on the specific play, we will try to focus more on either the pass or the run. I am very excited for the opportunity to play on Monday Night Football against a very strong Falcons team.
