Season Recap and Offseason Outlook
Our season came to an end in a tough 36-32 loss against San Francisco in the divisional round of the playoffs. We had a very strong season overall, but obviously we did not reach our ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl. We finished with a 14-4 record for the year, which is strong, but not as strong as we needed to be. We are definitely disappointed that we did not make it to Indy for the Super Bowl, but we enjoyed the ride this season and had fun along the way. We won our division, Drew Brees and our offense broke passing records, and we played well as a team all year.
Looking back on the San Francisco game, we did some things well and some things we know we need to improve on for next season. On the positive side, we were extremely resilient. We were down 17-0 early on and then came back to take the lead against a tough 49ers team. On the negative side, we did not finish the game. All season long we did a great job of finishing games and ensuring the victory. We did not do that against San Francisco.
We are going to take the time during the offseason to rest, recover, and prepare for another great season next year. We want to be healthy, focused, and ready to go once training camp comes around. We learned a lot from this past season and now have areas of improvement to focus on. Steve Spagnuolo joins our team as Defensive Coordinator this year. Steve is a great guy and I am looking forward to working with him. He won a Super Bowl as the Giants’ Defensive Coordinator in 2007-2008, and was most recently the Head Coach of the St. Louis Rams. We are excited to get to work on our defense!
I will be rooting for the Miami guys in the Super Bowl next weekend. I don’t have a rooting preference between the NY Giants and New England, but I am just hoping for a good game and good performances by the Miami guys.
